TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

Cedar Unified School District No. 25 Transportation Department is proud to announce the delivery of our new electric school bus. This initiative has been made possible through funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean School Bus Rebate Program, which allocates $5 billion over five years (FY 2022-2026) to modernize the nation's fleet of nearly 500,000 school buses. The new electric bus and charging infrastructure were funded by this grant, providing Cedar USD with a total of $395,000 in 2022—$375,000 for the bus and $20,000 for the charging station. The transition to cleaner buses will greatly reduce emissions, enhancing air quality in bus loading zones, and throughout our community. We appreciate this support, which will help us minimize our carbon footprint for the benefit of future generations and the Hopi and Navajo communities. Every year, school buses travel over four billion miles, safely transporting more than 25 million children to and from school daily. However, diesel emissions from traditional buses can pose air quality challenges and adversely affect human health, particularly in children, who breathe at a faster rate and have developing lungs. For more information on the EPA Clean School Bus Rebate Program, please visit https://www.epa.gov/cleanschoolbus and https://www.epa.gov/cleanschoolbus/benefits-clean-school-buses We would like to express our gratitude to Arizona Bus Center, Nuvee Holding Corp., CUSD Administration, and school board members for their dedication and hard work on this project, demonstrating their commitment to the well-being of our students. We invite students and community members to visit our bus yard during regular business hours to see your new electric school bus. To the Future

Our department prioritizes the safety of all students within our district by supporting various transportation needs, including daily bus transportation, after-school programs, special needs, athletic, extracurricular activity trips, and providing vehicles for employee workshop and conference attendance.
It is our goal to ensure a safe transportation experience for all individuals involved. In order to achieve this, everyone must contribute to upholding safety standards.
Riding the school bus is considered a privilege, not a right. We enforce bus rules to promote a safe travel environment to and from school. Please note that video and audio surveillance is in place on all Cedar USD buses to monitor compliance with these rules by both drivers and students.
